On January 19 of 2022 I had the pleasant opportunity to interview a LCSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Agathe Milhomme. Agathe is the owner of Agape Health and wellness Center in Lake Worth, FL. 
On the 1st question where Agathe was asked to define the professional identity of a counselor as compared to other mental health disciplines, Agathes replied was that professional identity of a counselors focus on the current problems and/or situations such as spiritual, financial, relationships, and life issues. Also provide guidance and support to address the issues and help the individual (s) to find their own solution. Whereas a mental health professionals focus on the psychopathology. Mental health professionals utilized evidenced based practices and testing such as personality testing, cognitive assessments, CBT, psychoeducation to address mental, behavioral, emotional and substance abuse disorders.
On the 2nd question about the most rewarding part of is being a counselor and what is the most difficult, Agathe answered that some of the rewarding part of being a clinician is helping clients build a better cognitive and emotional skills, reduce symptoms of the disorder and help client cope with challenges that they are facing where they are living a quality life. The most difficult part of being clinicians are building rapport/trust with client, countertransference, and emotional strain. 
On the 3rd question about theoretical models that Agathe uses, she answered that her preference is CBT -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR -Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Psychotherapy. 
On the 4th question where Agathe was asked about words of wisdom that she would have for someone who is in their first course of a masters degree program in counseling, she replied that to have a Teamwork Collaborate with your peers, use your resources coworkers, instructors, supervisors, Learn ethical and legal practices Ask questions Get a DSM5 book or Ebook 
Agathe answers emphasizes my perception of the benefits of the integrative approach, (page 104) specially with the cultural diversity we will have as counselors and consider not only the mental health but the physical and spiritual need of very human being.
