Week 3 Blog – Drugs and Addiction
Watch the video resources for the week and create a blog post that contains the following:
· Focusing on the psychoactive drugs presented in the reading, choose one drug from each of the major drug classifications:
o CNS Stimulants
o CNS Depressants
o Analgesics
o Hallucinogens
· Provide an overview of the following for each drug:
o Name
o Possible neurotransmitter that it mimics OR the brain specific area it affects.
o Behavioral changes when taken in small doses.
o Behavioral changes when taken in large doses or overdoses
o Long term behavioral changes (chronic usage) Long term brain or physiological changes
· The entire post should be at least 200 words in length. Remember to write using complete sentences.
· Reply to one peer’s blog.
· Choose either a drug that matches, or a new drug that the peer described.
· Provide one more fact from an outside source (with a citation and reference) in the reply.
