What is the idea?

  • Wristband/Ring with built in RFID capability for Myki and credit cards with the possibility to adopt many more uses ie. Identification and security clearance for businesses, the electronic components for passports (wouldn’t replace passports completely).

How are we planning to make this idea a reality? Ie skills/resources needed

  • Work with different companies such as banks and PTV to both advertise our product and integrate their RFID chips into our unit.

How does your idea change the world we live in today?

How do you and your company plan to profit from the idea?

  • Selling the product and adding a surcharge for things like credit card transactions or similar

How are you going to present/pitch the idea?

  • Have someone talking while one of us goes through their wallet trying to find the right card to make a transaction.

Script (Tristan)

Good morning everyone my name is Tristan (everyone else introduces themselves)

Today we want to show you something that can improve all of your lives. However before we get into it, my friends will first act out two real-world scenarios to help you understand the issues that we intend to solve.

Start Scenario 1

I want you all to imagine you are at the shops it may be a cafe or mcdonalds, it doesn’t really matter you go up to the cashier to make your purchase, you start looking through your bag or your wallet for your credit card but you can’t seem to find it, only a few seconds pass but it seems like an eternity as you try not to think about the long que of increasingly impatient individuals behind you. You are now manically searching where could it be? Maybe you will find and you leave with your goods maybe a little embarrassed, maybe you won’t find it.

I am sure that most of us have all experienced that mad rush of desperate searching and while usually we will eventually find our credit card or happen to have some cash on us to use instead it can be quite inconvenient.

Start scenario 2

Who here uses public transport? Personally I do, mostly just to come to uni.

Now imagine if one day you have just come out of your last lecture, you are tired, you are hungry, you want to go home. You get to the tram stop and there are many people already there. After a few minutes the tram show up. You get your Myki out so you are ready to tap on like a responsible member of society.

However as you climb up the steps and reach out with your myki, in the hustle and bustle someone knocks it right out of your hand. Now you have crouch down and search for it but guess what? People are still crowding around you trying to tap on, not a pleasant experience at all.

Fortunately we have found the solution and we want to share it with you. Imagine something you could wear, either a wristband or a ring, a stylish wearable device that would incorporate the same RFID chip technology found in your credit cards and your Myki’s. So simple so elegant, a smoother, smarter way of paying for things.

This is a device that you could never lose, never accidently drop and it would be incredibly difficult for someone to steal. The first universal credit card was made in 1950, thats 68 years ago. I don’t know about you but my parents aren’t even that old and in a world that is constantly moving forward, constantly re-inventing things isn’t it time that cards were re-invented too?

Thank you for your time.

Scenario 1

  • Presenter (Tristan)
  • Cashier (Put your name in here)
  • Customer 1 (Put your name in here)
  • Customer 2 (Put your name in here)
  • Customer 3 (Put your name in here)

The three customers are in a line with customer one at the front.
