Wk 2 Hmwk-2 DMAIC

For this assignment I would like for you to apply the DMAIC process to a problem or issue within your organization or an organization you are familiar with.  You will only be looking at the Define and Measure steps for this assignment (items 1-4 below). We will revisit this assignment later in the semester to complete the additional items.     This assignment is more about applying the DMAIC process than it is trying to solve a major problem at your company.  It is always good to start out simple.  I would rather you evaluated a straight forward issue that you can competently discuss through all five steps than tackle a complex issue that cannot be adequately defined, measured, or analyzed.  

You will be submitting a minimum  1000 word paper that discusses the following:

1. Include a title page and use 1.5 line spacing please.  I am not too particular about format MLA or whatever guideline you are comfortable with is appropriate.   Reference things when it is appropriate.  For this paper I would expect at least a few references from our text and perhaps company info.  No need to go research paper mode that is not the intent. 
2. An overview of the organization (who are they, what do the do, short history)
3. Who you would include on your Quality Team and why you believe they would be a good individual to include. 
4. Define – A detailed description of the problem. 
   1. What is the product or process
   2. What is the problem
   3. What is the history of the problem
   4. What is the impact of the problem
   5. What are the critical to quality characteristics
   6. What  KPIV and/or KPOVs are relevant to the issue

This is as far as we will go for now.  You will be revisiting this paper and adding to it later in the semester so spend the time up front so that you will have a quality product to deliver later on.
