DescriptionThis research assignment tasks you with finding background and argumentative support foryour final essay. DirectionsIn this essay, you must:1. Create an original argument, expressed in a short, concise, and to-the-point thesisstatement in your introduction that answers the question posed above;2. Use at least three reliable sources to defend your argument (you can use yourBibliography sources for this but it is not required);3. Express the importance and relevance of this argument to real life.There are three ways to organize your final essay, as discussed below:Essay format.Write your argument in a general persuasive essay format, using APA Style to create a titlepage, sections, paragraphs, and a Reference list. This is the format formally discussed in-classas expected for most academic courses and programs.Zine format.Instead of a formal essay (and serving as the midpoint between formal and informalorganizational formats), you can format your argument as a zineshort for magazine. This is ashort and creatively organized argumentative publication that is often self-published anddistributed: some content from this course has previously been distributed through or as zines,for example. Instead of an APA Style title page, your zine would have a front page thatdescribes its content and usually has an image to accompany it. Instead of an 8.5×11 page, aswell, zines are often on smaller paper, like a horizontal 8.5×11 page with a fold in the center tocreate a kind of book. This will require some knowledge of your word processor to format yourzine. This format will still require a final References page; however, the documents formatting isotherwise more flexible. Please discuss the details with me if you are considering this option.Creative format.Instead of any formal essay, and in the interest of supporting many forms of learning andtransmission of knowledges (not just written forms), you are also able to present yourargument in a format of your choice, as long as it is of an equal length to a 5-to-6 page essay.For this option, instead of a written research paper, you can (for example) record and send tome an 8-to-10-minute video explaining your argument, proof, and secondary sources, just asyou would in written form for the paper option; you can record a staged debate followingarguments for and against your central thesis statement; you can create an art piece, closetplay, or other visual/theatrical representation of your argument; or other options available foryou. All other requirements for the assignment would the same: you would still use at least threemain sources in your work, and you would still present it clearly and assertively, with propervocabulary, grammar, and semantic organization taken into account.Whichever choice you make must be, within reason, organized using APA formatting guidelines,including in-text citations, end reference entries, and document formatting.2Learning Outcomes.This assignment will test your ability to: Read, analyze, and discuss information from several different sources, includingsecondary sources not discussed directly in class Create and defend and original argument/thesis Adhere to academic writing standards, including vocabulary, sentence structure, andsemantic organization Follow APA format and documentation guidelines.Logistics.Length: approximately 5-6 written pages, plus a title page and References page, to make 7-8pages total.Format: APA Style; Times New Roman 12pt. font or Arial 11pt. fontWeight: 30%
