The thesis statement is the central idea of the paper and it is recommended that be written as a complete sentence. The thesis statement should indicate the point of view or argument that you are making regarding the topic. Remember to double space everything.

Major points should receive upper case Roman numerals and should appear as far to the left as your computer will allow you to put them.Subpoints are indented.
Please remember that if you have a I, you must also have a II.If you have an “a”, you must also have a “b”.
If you have a 1, you must also have a 2, and so forth.Of course, having an “a” means that you must also have a “b.”
See the meaning?  Outlines observe a principle of parallelism.

And then you give another main point at the left margin.The farther to the left an item appears, the more general it will be.
The farther to the right a point appears, the more specific it will be.
Thus areas of white space on your outline provide a key to understanding the relationships between assertions related to the thesis (topic sentences) and information that supports those assertions.
