This is a thesis proposal for a DBA. I had already submitted a version, but it was not suitable. The aim is to examine the effect simplifying oral health score, visualisation and communication would have on patients, their opinion, attendance, and the knock on effects on the dental practice.
The submitted paper, attached, was not sufficient.
Feedback was as follows:
“The literature review section lacks breadth and depth at the moment and it does not provide sufficient theoretical support for the study. From the methodology section, it seems the study is after designing a score card for patients at a dental practice, and monitor their visits. There are mentions of how frequent visits by patients will contribute to the financial performance of the practice, but it is not fully clear how this will be measured. You have also mentioned educating patients but again how is this sitting with your research aims?
The proposed outline, in my view, will be an interesting study for a dental practice to understand their customers’ behaviour, but there is not much academic value in what you are proposing in this outline and based on what you have written and this is mainly because it is not clear what you want to research on, what is the theoretical framework, and how the research is going to be operationalised.
I suggest you set out clear RQs, aims and objectives for your research, and ground your study in the appropriate theories. Focussing on one specific topic would be useful. At the moment, there are traces of concepts associated to customer satisfaction, customer relation management, impact on financial performance, etc, in your work, but none has been developed sufficiently or related effectively to the proposed study. I would like to reiterate that by rethinking the outline, it is possible to improve the proposed study aligning it with DBA requirements. “
