Front matter:
Title page is like
the title page of any report. I should
contain the subject (title), author, date and rationalization for work; in this
case to complete the requirements for English 452 Summer Ashore 1 20011
Abstract: This separate page consists of several
paragraphs that highlight the major points the report will address. Think of it as a listing in a catalogue designed to tell a prospective reader whether it is of interest to him/her.
Table of Contents: (Do this next to last). It will list all the sections included in
this list.
Executive Summary: This arguably is the most
important portion of the report because its generally read to quickly and
efficiently learn the gist of your work.
After reading thissummary, the reader will determine whether to read the full report or not. In most cases, the Executive Summary is ONE-TENTH the length of the full report.
It should be written LAST because it requires referencing
the other components of the full report.
It should include: -what the work hoped to
investigate or determine; the methodology used: ie survey, literature review; statistical analysis; major findings and the basic for same.
Body of report:
Introduction: quickly addresses the report’s purpose and
scope. (Several paragraph)
Text: This is the
meat of the sandwich, where the writer presents the facts and evidence
Conclusions: Summarizes results
Recommendations: This
would address the specific business case, should a ship be purchased or a portcall be made. Pls evaluate the new oil/gas drilling rules for offshore Gulf of Mexico and say how they have been changed, and more importantly, if they will lead to better oversight and compliance. Ideally what’s driving this. Is it environmental responsibility, or economic self interest?
Specifically say how the rules have changed (in some detail)
-what gains are expected and how compliance is assured?
-any claw back or arduous regulations to ensure compliance
-cost–be specific here; who will bare? who will assume liability?
what are oversight provisions?; is there ongoing oversight? Can third parties be held accountable? What is the process to settle any disputes? is there arbitration
-How capable are government regulators to oversee this mammoth project, given projected volume, aqnd can you estimate same?
-Compromises struck to win industry support–This could be a key section
3rd party sources to discuss evaluate the program and speak to its viability.
Only a modest amount of background in Macondo is required, now more than 1.5 pages.
