The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way businesses operate and how people work and go about their everyday lives. It has also brought to light some deep divisions in our country, whether political divisions, divisions over vaccine mandates, and many others. Our ability to embrace and respect differing opinions and views has always been one of our countrys greatest strengths, but there seems to be a growing lack of respect for differing views that has led to an inability to find common ground for the greater good. As a young person entering their next phase of education and then ultimately the work world, what can your generation doto help foster a mutual respect again for differing points of view so common ground can be found to better address the pressing problems facing our country and the world?

This is for a scholarship application. It is from the perspective of me a liberal-ish but mainly neutral black 17 year old, the first in her family to even go to college and graduation high school top of her class. I am vaccinated but am not opposed to those who aren’t however feel they need to take the proper precautions to keep everyone safe. I feel the issues are rooted in upbringing and environment where people are scared to be vulnerable and admit they are wrong and in turn refuse to learn and fix it. (me, please feel free to ask any questions about my view, life, or future major)
