Introduction

The human resource department has witnessed revolutionary technologies that are anchored to efficiency. Human Resource Management System (HRIS) is an example of such technology. This system serves as an intersection of information technology and human resources. The system allows processes and activities within the HR department to occur electronically (Strayer, 2005, p. 134).

Role of HRIS in ABC Company

The ABC Corporation needs HRIS integration to do several activities critical to the running of the business. Among the many issues that will exploit the benefits of HRIS have been highlighted below.

  1. To bring efficiency in administration processes

An HRIS system ensures a business’s streamline activities relating to employee benefits. For example, new and existing staff can register electronically for various benefit plans.  This system offers a self-service system, which makes it possible for benefits to be administered using a limited workforce. This will save the ABC company financial resources and time that would have otherwise been used for the same activities to be done manually.

  1. Facilitating recruitment activities

The ABC company needs to enhance its staffing efforts, and this can be attained by using an HRIS system. HRIS systems provide a sophisticated interface that allows job applicants to do this using an online interface (Andrews, 2004, p. 374). Besides, Current employees in the company can apply for new benefits of job promotion using the system. By using the HRIS, candidates will be in a position to upload information such as resume using a remote computer. A recruitment manager can view the information submitted by each applicant electronically. The system will enable the recruitment team to shortlist applicants before doing a physical interview hence saving on time.

  1. Reporting activities.

Among the most beneficial aspect of HRIS to an organization is the ability of the system to instantly generate presentations and reports. HRIS can store information about the company’s human resource activities. It involves information such as a detailed listing of a job application — an updated index of available jobs and data relating to incentive compensation and salary. Further, results highlighting disciplinary actions and annual performance appraisal taken against staff members. Since the information is held within a single database, it becomes easy to obtain some reports with this information. A good example can be a recruitment manager running a report to show them the most qualified individual from past interviews.

HRIS vendor choice
