Your task this week is to create a literacy narrative essay draft of your own that describes your experience, beliefs, and/or attitudes about your literacy (any significant reading and writing experiences). Do so with reference to at least one outside source (similar to how Rodriguez uses Hoggart as a source in his essay). The essay should be a narrative (story-like) description about 1 or 2 key literacy experiences you’ve had in your life thus far. Include some self-reflection and personal thoughts on this aspect of your life as well (just like Rodriguez and Alexie do at the beginning and end of their essays). You may also mention how these experiences continue to influence your approach to college and/or learning in general. Use your best skills for composing this as an organized essay. There should be an initial thesis that is a claim about your literacy experiences that helps to organize the topic and gives the essay purpose. The finished essay will be 3-4 pages in length and use MLA-style formatting and citation.
