1. Ms. Fernandez is a Cuban-American 14-year-old who has been sexually active for about a year and started using birth control pills about six months ago. Her parents are unaware of her sexual activities. She tries to take the pills regularly, but admits to forgetting them sometimes. She says that, if she were to become pregnant, she would not have an abortion because she believes abortion is morally wrong and because she is Catholic. The medical staff is urging you to contact Ms. Fernandezs parents due to concern about her health risks.
2. A physician in a community health clinic share with a 27 year old mother that recent research indicated that ways of preventing the transmission of HIV from an infected mother to her newborn is to inform their partners about their HIV status. However, he was unaware that some women in the community who did so were chased from their homes or beaten as a result. As a Social Worker in the medical research team you were asked to address the psychosocial issues of clients. Which code of ethics would you utilize in doing so?
