Integrity is not just something I live by professionally, but it is a value that I live by in my personal life as well. Your integrity is what defines you both personally and professionally. Sastrawan, Newton, and Malik (2019) say that one concept of integrity is a “sense of wholeness with regard to personal-professional concerns…”. Your nursing integrity goes beyond the work environment and patient care areas. You want your patients, families, friends, and community to know that you always have their best interest at heart, through all aspects of life. In my role as a preceptor for the fourth semester Associates Degree Nursing program, integrity is important, because I am teaching students. They are part of the community and need to know that the nurse in the field is teaching them the right information, just as they expect the nursing instructor to do.
