Instructions:

  1. Nursing Organization:  Research a nursing organization representing your intended nursing specialty focus and provide a review of its mission and vision.
  2. Discuss how the organization may influence your future plans and education in the intended specialty.
  3. Short-Term Goals:  Discuss your intended nursing specialty focus and purpose for choosing this specialty. Develop 3 short-term career goals and discuss how earning the MSN degree will impact your career goals and how you plan to achieve those short-term goals. Note: Short-term goals are those that may be achieved within a year.
  4. Long-Term Goals: Develop 3 long-term career goals and discuss how you plan to achieve those long-term goals. Note: Long-term goals may take several years to reach.
  5. Barriers: Identify three (3) potential barriers to achieving your short-term and long-term and construct a plan to address barriers.
  6. Professional Development Plan: Use the table below to identify how you will obtain or strengthen a minimum of four of the competencies necessary for your specific educational tract/practice area. This can be through course work using the course descriptions as a guide as well as Practice Experiences in the courses.
