Instructions: You must use a minimum of five (5) sources beyond the course textbooks in Week 4. These sources should be from industry articles, journals, academic and professional books, and case studies. You may not use Wikipedia or Webopedia or any of the ‘pedias’ as a reference. Your submission must be formatted according to APA style guidelines. See the Writing Expectations contained in the Policies section of the Syllabus for specific focus areas / guidance. The objective of this assignment is to provide the research basis for your research paper effort, expose you to the APUS on-line library to explore peer reviewed materials acceptable for scholarly research, and offer a means to advance your overall knowledge of the information security literature holdings. You must use a minimum of five (5) reputable sources beyond the course textbooks for your research by the end of Week 4. These sources should be from industry articles, journals, academic and professional textbooks, and case studies.
I have also included an exemplar for your review. This exemplar presents what is expected from this assignment.
The key point of this exercise is to identity relevant, peer reviewed sources; cite them accurately; summarize the key points relevant to your paper; and identify how this source will contribute to your paper.
Your paper MUST meet the minimum requirements of the assignment in order for any portion of the rubric to apply!
Submission Instructions: See the Writing Instructions in your Syllabus as well as inserted below. Please submit a Word document in the defined format to your Assignment folder by 11:59PM, Sunday. Your writing assignment will be automatically ran through TurnItIn to aid in preparing for your Final Research Paper and also as a tool to help with proper citation of research source material and appropriate attribution of that material..
Grading: The grading rubric that is part of the course Syllabus will be used for all writing assignments. Please review this rubric to ensure you are aware of the items that will be assessed as part of each assignment.
WRITING EXPECTATIONS
All written submissions (All Assignments, Papers, and Case Study writing products) will be submitted in compliance with APA style guidelines. It is recommended that students try to adhere to a consistent format, which is described below.
- All Assignments, Papers, and Case Study writing products should be submitted inside the electronic classroom (unless classroom access is not possible and other arrangements have been approved by the professor).
- All Assignments, Papers, Case Study or written products / submissions should contain a Cover Page with paper title, course identifier, student name, professor name, and date of paper, which does not count toward page count nor word count.
- All Assignments, Papers, and Case Study writing products should be typewritten in Word format (deviations from Word need prior professor approval) in double-spaced format (ensure your auto spacing is turned off or set to zero in your paragraph settings) with a Times New Roman 12 pitch black color font.
- All Assignments, Papers, and Case Study writing products should have 1" margins all around; 0.5" paragraph indentation.
- All Assignments, Papers, and Case Study writing products should employ a running header and page numbers, appropriately placed.
- All Assignments, Papers, and Case Study writing products should use section headings — standard section heading use is encouraged (e.g., Introduction, Discussion, Conclusion).
- Figures and Tables are allowed, but will not count toward the total page count, and must be properly labeled.
- All Assignments, Papers, and Case Study writing products citation formatting (both in-text and in the References page) should conform to APA style guidelines, and does not count toward page count nor word count.
CITATION AND REFERENCE STYLE
Assignments must follow APA style guidelines. This course will require students to use the citation and reference style established by the American Psychological Association (APA), in which case students should follow the guidelines set forth in Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
