Responsibility of a manager

In light of these challenging times, and in an effort to integrate the management issues , please write a two page reflective essay addressing AND integrating many of the following points.

As we have discussed, the primary responsibility of a manager is to protect the health and safety of their staff/employees and clients/people that they serve.

Please reflect on how you as a manager would respond to issues of fairness, bias, prejudice, diversity, and racism in the work place.  Since management is both an art and a science, how does your mission, goals and objectives as an organization manifest  in your decisions.  What role does motivation, and the effect of your personal triggers and use of power play in what is required of you, as a leader, to be an honest, caring, respectful, and responsible manager.  How can you be an effective, competent, and efficient leader while still acknowledging the need to be a human being working together with other human beings for a common goal. How can you be both responsible and accountable to/for yourself and others? 

These are unusual and painful times, which offer each of us an opportunity to think, evaluate, and clarify our values and acknowledge how our own perceptions may color our ability to lead in a compassionate and humane way.  These values need not be mutually exclusive….one can work to accomplish difficult tasks AND still do it in a clear, inclusive, and open way.  It requires a commitment to do so, on a consistent basis, despite push back and inertia.

Reflecting on this, please write thoughtfully and honestly about what you have learned and how you believe it will affect your future as a leader and manager.
