Theory & Practice Perspective Paper
Each student will write one perspective paper, meant to help you synthesize the information and topics we cover in a way that works for you and your own unique styles of learning and understanding, exploring ideas and applications, applying elements of critical thinking, finding your own voice, and thinking about the use and value of this information in real-world field settings.   The paper must adhere to the following standards:
o        Be a minimum of five (5) pages of content (excluding the title and references pages), double-spaced and free of spelling/grammatical errors, in an MS Word doc. No bullet-pointed lists or graphics are accepted as ‘content’.
o        Thoughtfully apply the theories/concepts and information learned in the course to meaningful connections in your personal and professional life experiences and situations, providing your perspectives and opinions about this newly acquired knowledge…in other words, what do YOU THINK about this, and why?
o        Integrate key points/findings from a minimum of two credible external information sources (e.g., Business Week, the Wall Street Journal, The NY Times, Fast Company) that are relevant to the focus of your paper.  Our course textbook does not count as one of the sources but may be used as an additional resource.  Reference sources must be cited in the paper and a separate APA-format references page must be included at the end.

This is an example of an APA-formatted reference entry (yes, reference entries are also double-spaced):

Jokisaari, M., & Nurmi, J. (2009). Change in newcomers’ supervisor support and socialization outcomes after organizational entry. Academy Of Management Journal, 52(3), 527-544.

At least half of the content of the paper should be your own personal perspective. These are not term papers or essays! Any paper in which the majority of content is simply reporting about a theory or topic will receive a zero.
I suggest the following structure:
1.       Title Page
2.       Introduction of topic, including definitions and examples, and integrating your external sources to explain how and why this topic is important to understand in a business context
3.       Personal perspectives, including any personal or professional examples or experiences you wish to share to emphasize the relevance of the topic and how it may appear or be used in organizational settings
4.       Concluding remarks

5.       References Page
