Topic: What motivates library staff to work? An examination of intrinsic versus extrinsic motivators
The purpose of this assignment is to help you gain some managerial insights by writing a paper based on an in-depth study of a specific management concept relevant to libraries or information organizations. You should provide a thorough and well-organized review of your chosen management concept with information drawn from at least 15-20 peer-reviewed articles, published case studies, informal opinion pieces, and so forth.
I expect the quality of writing to be high for this paper. I also expect the presentation of your paper to be professional. The following is a list of some of the most important aspects for you to consider.
1 – General Organization/Presentation: Utilize headings, subheadings, and bulleted lists to organize your main ideas in a logical and digestible manner.
2 – Cohesion and Coherence: Use transitional words and phrases whenever necessary to make your narrative cohesive and coherent.
3 – Professional Writing
−Avoid use of personal pronouns.
−Use active voice whenever possible.
−Avoid overly long and complex sentences.
Your writing should be concise, precise, and provide analysis and reflection on the insights you gained from in-depth study of your chosen managerial concept.
4 – In-text Citations in APA style: Include in-text citations in APA style whenever appropriate throughout your narrative. The full APA-style citations corresponding to these in-text citations must be included in your “References” section at the end of the paper.
5 – Grammar and Spelling: Ensure that there are no grammatical or spelling errors in your final submission.
6 – Expected Length: The length of your paper can range from 2500 Words to a maximum of 3000 words, excluding the “References” section.
7 – Abstract: The abstract should follow the cover page and be on its own separate page with “Abstract” as the heading. The abstract should summarize the main topic and be indicative of the main ideas of your paper (from 75 to a maximum of 100 words).
8 – Main Body of the Paper: Start this part of your paper on a new page with the title of your paper at the top of the page (the same title you put on your cover page). Thereafter, you will need to decide on your own unique headings and subheadings to reflect the content you are presenting. The content of your paper should be based upon information drawn from at least 15-20 peer-reviewed articles, published case studies, informal opinion pieces, and so forth. The content of your paper should include:
1. An introductory paragraph describing your chosen management concept and the reason why it is an important concept for library and information organizations,
2. An in-depth discussion clearly demonstrating your overall understanding of your chosen management concept supported by cited literature,
3. reflections on the management concept’s significance for libraries or information organizations,
4. reflections on the application of the management concept in a library or information organization, and
5. a conclusion which should present a synthesized summary of the main ideas discussed in your paper.
The content mentioned in #2 above should be the longest section of your paper, and should be divided into appropriate headings and subheadings.
9 – References: Provide a list of references at the end of your paper, following APA style for the references. Do not include any references that you haven’t cited with in-text citations in your paper.
