For this assignment you are to read, summarize, and react to a newspaper, magazine, internet, etc. article relating to matter public finance, the economy, or related subjects.
Your current events assignment submission should include each of the following sections and should be structured in accordance with the outline below (Please see the example submission in the Current Events folder on Blackboard for additional guidance on formatting).
The following components/sections should be included in your Current Events submission.
1.Article title (max. 1 pts.): What is the title of the article? Exact wording
2.Article source (max. 2 pts.):Using the APA style of citation, cite the source of your article; ANDInclude web link to the article, blog, etc

3. Summary (max. 8 pts.) Briefly and in your own words, summarize the content of the article. (5) sentence minimum.Be sure to discuss the main points of the article so that your reader gets a good sense of what’s being discussed without actually having to read the article.
IMPORTANT: Your summary should not be longer (or nearly as long) as the actual article. Simply copying and pasting text from the selected article is prohibited.
4.Reaction (max. 4 pts.) In a minimum of five (five) sentences
take a position on the issue contained in the article (if appropriate).Discuss how do you feel about this topic, or about the author’s perspective on in the issue if that perspective is apparent).
5.Impact (max. 4 pts) In a minimum of five (5) sentences discuss:
how the topic being discussed impacts you, government, society, etc.
What are the short- and or long-term implications of the topic/issue discussed in the article?
Additional criteria on which your submission will be graded include:
Grammar (max. 3 pts)
Topic relevance to course: (max. 3 pts)
Write your paper in paragraph form using good sentence structure with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. Your summary should primarily be written in your own words. If you need to use a short quote, please use quotation marks and cite accordingly.
Again, your summary is not a critique of whether the article is simply good or bad. You are to provide a summary and reasoned opinion on the issue/topic presented. This assignment is designed to encourage you to explore your attitudes/thoughts/beliefs on a vast array of topics associated with the practice and study of public administration. You should think critically about the topic, your feelings about it, and its potential implications on yourself, society, etc.
