Dominant and Subordinate Identity

In chapter 2 Tatum discusses how individuals can inhabit both dominant and subordinate identity positions.  Understanding that we can be both dominant and subordinate suggests that while is race, it is sometimes not the most important identity we hold.  There is complex intersectionality of identities that make up our social life.

Prompt
For this assignment think about how you are BOTH dominant and subordinate at the same time.  Discuss how you are dominant and subordinate, remember that sometimes when we are in a position of privilege it is harder to see because we take it as "normal" or we take it for granted. As an example, I could say that as a Chicano, I am not part of the dominant racial category and so I might miss out on the benefits of white privilege, but as a male, I am given the benefits and privileges that females in our society do not get. You can discuss several positions of dominance or subordination if you would like. Provide a discussion post to this prompt AND reply or comment to at least one other post.  You must first post a response before seeing other replies. Think of providing at least a paragraph-length post and reply.
