Research Proposal 40%
This assignment is your final assignment for the course and is an opportunity for you to create, and get feedback on, a foundational qualitative research proposal that meets CUNY’s IRB protocols and can be used in your capstone courses. Proposals should describe your research project in detail. Your proposal should be 10 pages in length and must include the following elements to receive full credit. Each element is worth 100 points for a total of 400 possible points.

Research Question and Research Objectives (100/400 points). Your proposal should describe the process of constructing or identifying your research question and should also explain why this research question is important to the field of disability studies.

Literature Review (100/400 points). Your proposal should describe how your project contributes to existing research in disability studies. How does your proposed research challenge, expand, add to, or build upon existing research in disability studies?

Methodology and Research Design (100/400 points). Your proposal should describe the research methodology you’ve chosen, clarify your research goals, and explain how the methodology you’ve selected correlates to the goals of your research project. The description of your research project’s design and methodology should Include

1. Discussions of how you chose the methodology and a consideration of how this methodology both enables, and limits, the scope of your research.

2. A description of the challenges you might encounter during the course of your research and how you plan to address these challenges.

3. A discussion of the biases, perspectives, experiences, and knowledge you bring to the project.

4. A description of how you plan to complete your project in an ethical manner; including—where applicable—how you will obtain consent forms and protect the confidentiality of research participants. Your proposal should also detail how your research addresses the needs and concerns of the disability community.

5. Your proposal should explain how you will analyze your data and describe the specific theories and ideas that will frame your analysis.

Citation, Formatting, and Submission (100/400 points). 1. All proposals must conform to either Chicago, APA, or MLA citation standards.

2. Proposals should be Double-spaced, 10-12 pages in length (including your lit review), and written in standard 12-point Times New Roman font.
Proposals should have 1-inch margins, numbered pages, and a reference page. Correct grammar and spelling are expected.

3. Submit your proposal via the Assignments tab located on the left-hand side of your Blackboard homepage. Click the Assignments tab and look for the link provided for the assignment, “Week 15: Research Proposal.” Click this link and then click the “Browse My Computer” button to upload and attach your proposal. Be sure to attach your paper as a word document or pdf. DO NOT cut and paste your proposal into the text box. Upload a final research proposal that incorporates peer feedback no later than 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time on Dec 18th.
