Traditional Family

I know that traditional family comprised majorly of a husband and wife and sometimes children made it a complete and happy marriage. In those days, there were minimal divorce rates and people stayed together. Men and women in traditional society had specific roles as they were enshrined in societal norms. Women were limited to the rights of owning property, not allowed to make any official contract and they could not be sued on their names. Husbands, on the other hand, were designated for managerial positions to ensure that the social economy triumphed and that women had enough finances that could facilitate them. The traditional family structure was altered in the 19th century when women were allowed by the government to own property, sue and are sued, and they were allowed to enter into contracts on their names. These changes began to alter and destroy the original family foundations. The face of the current family is completely different as compared to the traditional families which had unity, determination, love, and corporation.

Challenges Facing the Family

I have observed that the current families are faced with myriad changes that threaten its structure. The traditional structure is about to be faced off completely and new forms reinstated. The current generation aims at postponing childbearing, the number of people cohabiting has increased yet those living together avoid the responsibilities of bringing up children. There is also another trend in the family that has increased non-marital childbearing. Some parents have children but out of the family structure. Some of those parents do so due to career choice that requires them to be out of the family most of the time, there is another group of parents that bore children but are not comfortable staying together, there are some who are bringing up children due to a divorce after obtaining pregnancy, and some single parents might have children out prostitution activities that forced them to carry pregnancy out of wedlock. The changes I have observed in families are a result of changing values, self-fulfillment of people, and individualism that originated from the Western countries.

A keen reflection on the family reveals that there is a looming separation of marriage, sex, and parenthood. I sense the danger that there would be low fertility in most nations and states since there are a few people who are concerned with principles that sustain the basic foundations of the family.

I also realize that poverty is a great threat to family structure and the future of members of families. There is a choice family members have that gives them the freedom to do things that gives them the power to join with other people from diverse environments. For instance, children born in poor neighborhoods tend to look for friends from rich families, and then they engage in premarital sex with the hope of reaping huge after sex. This line of thought has destroyed families because such relationships do not last for long since they are built on a shaky family foundation.

I have also noticed that wars are tearing families apart. Many countries engage in the war due to different reasons such as political ambitions, ethnicity, economic differences, and differences in Christian beliefs. These wars have forced people to run away from their countries to avoid the wrath of the opposing factions hence become immigrants to other countries such as the U.S or they end becoming refugees living in refugee camps that are established to cater to them. Those who run away from their countries abandon their cultures, separate from their families and relatives and these forces them to neglect their basic foundations on the family as their major theme is to look for survival means.

I recognize that international migration trends and long life spans are affecting the family structure. Many people leave their families in pursuit of things such as better employment opportunities, better living conditions, education, and more developed facilities. Those who move out of their families tend to change and assimilate new family cultures and ideas. This might be used in explaining why there are so many educated single women. Others tend to think that because of the increase in longevity of people and due to better-increased health facilities individuals should decrease the birth rate using appropriates technologies such as those that relevant in family planning.

Homeland

Due to family changes, especially those that are caused due to wars and immigration, many people are homeless. They do not have a place they can classify as their homeland. The war-torn zones have pushed people out of their ancestral land and left them wandering from country to country looking for where they can be accepted. On the other hand, immigrants suffer the plight of homelessness due to a lack of clear policies that can allow them to possess the land and build new homes in foreign lands. Also, the congestion of cities by people who migrate from their homeland in search of better employment opportunities worsens the condition of homelessness.

The other factors that have contributed to homelessness are the overregulation of markets. Those in charge of leasing houses to people have overrated the price making it hard even for those people living within their countries to accommodate the housing prices. As a result, there are so many families in the streets because they cannot afford the prices for the house.

Climate change is also another factor that has contributed to homelessness. Some people have lost their family members, cultures, societal norms, and homes due to the effects of global warming. Climate changes have made life hard in contributing to desertification and raised see levels in other regions that have had negative impacts on individuals.

In my observation, I realize that factors such as drug abuse, diseases, unemployment can contribute to homelessness too. Poverty and unemployment discriminations contribute to homelessness for individuals since they cannot afford the housing prices. Drug abusers are at a high risk of losing a sense of belonging in their homelands because most of the time they behave against the societal norms and values.

Peaceful and Bright Future for Families and the Homeless

I carefully evaluate the strategies that are put in place to ensure that there are working systems that can alleviate the plight of future families and homeless people. A keen analysis of those mechanisms indicates that there are hopes for a peaceful and bright future for the victims of family structure change and homeless.

Scientists are inventing products that are targeting to improve the living conditions of family members and to ensure that the family structure is maintained despite the challenges it faces. For instance, they have invented technologies that can be used in communication to ensure that family members are linked irrespective of their geographical location. These technological features help societies maintain their societal norms and values beyond boundaries. Also, scientists are creating technologies that can be used in creating cheap houses that can be used in alleviating the problem of homelessness.

I have noticed that there are increased meetings that bring heads of states and nations together to discuss the plight of the family and the homelessness. In their meetings, they set up policies that are in line with supporting the family and dealing with the issue of homelessness. For instance, they resolved that states and nations that have the capacity to host more refugees they should keep on accepting them based on the legal terms that have been outlined in the United Nations body, a body that brings all world heads of states and nations together, with the aim of improving living conditions of individuals.

The most interesting part in the process of bringing peace to the family and the homeless, the world leaders are discussing ways that can eliminate the use of heavy destructive weapons and deadly chemicals that are used in wars such as that in Syria and Iraq. Those countries engaging in research, manufacture, production, dissemination, and selling of weapons and chemicals that can be used on large scale are restricted from doing international business because of the great negative impact on human life their products have. Such restrictions can sustain family structure and minimize the number of immigrants that suffer homelessness in foreign lands. Also, there are strategies to reduce climate change to improve livelihood.
